Condo Junk and Furniture Removal in Boca Raton and Delray Beach: Elevators, HOAs and Getting It Out

Getting rid of furniture from a condo in Boca Raton or Delray Beach takes a little more planning than a house with a driveway. There's the elevator, the building manager, the HOA rules and sometimes a long walk from the unit to wherever the truck can park.

We're SoFlo Junk & Go, a local junk removal crew out of Pompano Beach. We do a lot of condo pickups up and down the coast, from Pompano and Deerfield up to Boca, Delray and Boynton. Here's how to make a condo junk removal job go smooth.

Why condo jobs are different

In a house, we back up to the garage and start loading. In a condo, everything goes down a hallway, into an elevator, across a lobby or garage, and out to the trailer. That's fine, but the building usually has rules about how and when it happens.

Most of the delays we see on condo jobs come from the building side, not the junk. A quick call to your manager ahead of time fixes almost all of it.

Call your building manager first

Before you book, ask the office:

  • Do we need to reserve the service elevator? Many buildings want it booked ahead and padded for furniture.
  • What hours are allowed? Lots of buildings only allow moving and hauling on certain days and times, and some don't allow it on Sundays or holidays.
  • Where can a truck and trailer park? Find out if there's a loading area, a side entrance or a spot out front we can use.
  • Does the building need anything from the hauler? Some buildings ask for paperwork from any company coming in. Ask what they need and send it to us when you book so we can sort it out before the day.
  • Is there a dumpster or trash room limit? Most buildings won't let you leave furniture by the dumpster, which is usually why people call us in the first place.

What we usually haul out of condos

  • Couches, sectionals and recliners
  • Mattresses, box springs and bed frames
  • Dining sets, dressers and nightstands
  • Old patio and balcony furniture
  • TVs, small appliances and electronics
  • Rugs, lamps, mirrors and wall decor
  • Boxes and bags of household stuff from closets and storage lockers

If it's non-hazardous, we can usually take it. We can't take paint, gas, chemicals or other hazardous materials the dumps won't accept.

Common condo situations

Replacing furniture. New couch coming Thursday, old couch has to go first. We can schedule the pickup before your delivery so the new piece has somewhere to go.

Selling or renting out the unit. Clearing the place before a listing or a new tenant moves in is one of the most common condo calls we get.

Settling a family member's condo. When a parent passes or moves to assisted living, families often need the whole unit cleared on a deadline. Our estate cleanout checklist can help you plan, and our estate cleanout service covers the full job.

Seasonal owners. Plenty of Boca and Delray owners are only here part of the year and want the unit cleared before they head back north, or before they arrive.

What condo junk removal costs

Junk removal is priced mostly by how much space your stuff takes up, plus weight and dump fees. Jobs start at $150. A single couch, a mattress set or a few bags usually lands around $150 to $250. A full load in our 6x14 dump trailer has run about $650. Long walks or a slow elevator can add time, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

The fastest way to get a price is to text us photos of everything that's going. We'll get back to you with a free, upfront quote. More detail is in how junk removal pricing works.

How to make the day go faster

  • Book the elevator and confirm the time with your building.
  • Put everything that's going in one or two rooms if you can.
  • Take down mirrors and wall-mounted TVs, or tell us ahead of time.
  • Keep what's staying clearly separate.
  • Give the front desk or gate our name and arrival window.
