How to Save Money on Junk Removal: Get Ready Before We Arrive

Junk removal is priced by how much of the truck your stuff fills, how heavy it is, and dump fees. That means the more you do to keep the load smaller, lighter and easier to get to, the better your price can be. None of this is complicated. Here’s what actually helps.

1. Send good photos

A clear picture gets you a clear quote. When we can see everything, we can price it right the first time.

  • Take a wide shot of the whole pile, not just one item.
  • Add close-ups of anything heavy, like tile, concrete or a safe.
  • Show us where it is: garage, upstairs bedroom, backyard.
  • Mention stairs, long walks or tight hallways.

Text them to 954-408-4024 or use the quote form on our homepage. The quote is free, and there’s no obligation.

2. Decide what’s going before we show up

The biggest time-waster on pickup day is deciding on the spot. If you know what goes and what stays before we arrive, we can load faster and you won’t pay for things you end up keeping.

  • Walk through the space ahead of time.
  • Mark keepers with tape or sticky notes.
  • If a whole room is staying, close the door or tape it off.

3. Pull out what can be sold or donated

Anything you take out of the pile is space in the truck you don’t pay for. If you have furniture in good shape or boxes of usable stuff, consider selling it, giving it to a neighbor, or dropping it at a donation spot yourself.

If you don’t have time for that, no problem. We donate what we can.

4. Break things down

Some things take up a lot more room than they need to.

  • Flatten cardboard boxes.
  • Take apart bed frames, shelves and tables if you can.
  • Bag up loose items instead of leaving them scattered.

Less air in the truck means a smaller load.

5. Keep the heavy stuff separate

Weight affects your price and the dump fees. If you have heavy materials like tile, pavers, concrete or dirt, keep them in their own pile and tell us about them when you ask for a quote. Mixing them into a big pile can make the job harder to plan.

6. Keep it dry

This one is very South Florida. Rain-soaked boxes, wet carpet and soggy yard debris weigh a lot more than dry ones. If you can, keep your pile covered or inside until pickup.

7. Make it easy to get to

The easier it is for us to reach your stuff, the faster the job goes.

  • Clear a path from the pile to the door.
  • Move cars out of the driveway.
  • Unlock gates and let us know about any codes.
  • If you can, move smaller items to the garage or curb.

You don’t have to move heavy things yourself. We do the heavy lifting from inside your home, garage or storage unit. But a clear path helps.

8. Set aside things we can’t take

We can’t take paint, gas, chemicals or other hazardous materials the dumps won’t accept. Pull those out before we arrive so they don’t slow anything down. Our guide on what junk removal can’t take explains where they can go instead.

9. Do it all at once

If you’re planning to clear the garage now and the spare room next month, it can make sense to do both in one trip. One bigger job is often a better use of the truck than two small ones. Ask us when you get your quote.

10. Ask questions up front

Not sure if something will cost extra? Ask. Some items cost more to dispose of, like mattresses, tires or appliances with refrigerant. We explain why in Dump Fees Explained. Knowing ahead of time means no surprises.

What it costs

Jobs start at $150, and smaller pickups usually run around $150 to $250. A full 6x14 dump-trailer load has run about $650. For more on pricing, read How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in South Florida?
